The creation of a conducive and safe work environment is anchored under the safety, health and welfare legislation; the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), 2007. The legislation aims at securing the safety and welfare of persons at work and those impacted by workplace activities against risks to safety and health arising out of or in connection with the activities of persons at work.

Organizations have in addition realized the benefits of occupational safety and health as a tool for risk reduction as part of business continuity planning. The push for implementation of safety has thereby moved from compliance status to benchmarking against best practices.

Under OSH, we offer;

1. Safety & Health Statutory Training

The enactment of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, 2007 and the Legal Notice No. 59, (Fire Risk Reduction Rules, 2007) lay the basic minimum on Fire Safety. They stipulate that every occupier (employer) shall establish a firefighting team and at least sensitize staff on the use of fire extinguishers. This makes it imperative that organizations maintain a team of well-trained fire marshals capable of responding to fire emergencies and also equip their human resource with the requisite knowledge and skills on fire safety. It is also of business sense that hazards that may hinder the management of fire were it to occur, are mitigated.

The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) of 2007 provides for First Aid at work.  Legal notice No. 160, 1977 specifies that all workplaces should have a First Aid team and a certificate issued after the training that is valid for 12 months and a refresher be done after every 12 months.  

The law requires that organisations with 20 and above employees should have a trained safety and health committee. Legal Notice (LN) No. 31 of 2004 governs the training of the Occupational Safety and Health Committee to support Management in the reduction or elimination of hazards at work in firms employing 20 or above workers.

We offer the above trainings in accordance with the curriculum and requirements of the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services.
